SWITCH review

SWITCH – Satyam, Wipro, Infosys, TCS, Cognizant, HCL – top 6 IT companies from India.

Couple of years ago, the IT industry everywhere was abuzz with this term. Is it still valid? sadly, no. Satyam, after the scam from its owner, has disappeared from the top rungs of the Indian IT scenario. The others are still existent but there are major changes in each of them.

  • TCS is still going strong – retaining its No.1 position among the Indian companies.
  • Infosys had issues with their HR Head and after a lengthy tenure, the legendary Narayanamurthy gave way to Kamath (who was spearheading ICICI earlier). Product Development seems to be the new focus for the company and how they integrate this vision with their current deliveries remains to be seen.
  • Wipro was in news recently for the wrong reasons – the joint CEO’s were replaced by one. The company was restructured and though recent results are encouraging, they seem to have lost out their position to Cognizant.
  • Cognizant seems to be making all the right moves so far. Though a US-based organization, with a strong Indian presence, CTS stands behind TCS and Infy in the pecking order.
  • Vineet Nayyar of HCL started the new mantra – Employees first, Customers next. With this and other measures they have adopted, the organization is back in reckoning after few dull years. The recent quarterly results have indicated that the new moves have worked.
The top two players – TCS and Infosys – seem to be going strong. World domination beckons – go on and conquer !
